Throughout 2025, the Glen Innes Health Hub was pleased to pilot a GP service that included both face-to-face and telehealth appointments. We know how important reliable local healthcare is, and we are grateful for the strong community participation and support throughout the pilot.
During this time, we have closely reviewed the data, costs and service outcomes. While the pilot delivered many benefits, it also revealed a GP telehealth service is the most financially sustainable for the Health Hub in the long term.
A new model of care will ensure the Health Hub can continue to deliver quality primary care for many years to come. From early 2026, the GP service will transition to become a telehealth service.
We want to assure patients and the community that this decision was made only after exploring all practical options.
Our commitment to the community remains unchanged. The Glen Innes Health Hub will continue to be a welcoming, supportive place where clients can access primary care and allied health services.
The Service Navigator will continue to help patients to book and attend appointments (including telehealth appointments), provide internet access, a private telehealth room, technology support, and connect patients with a wide range of health and wellbeing services.
The Hub’s Nurse will support the online GP with clinical assessments, wound care, and other in-person tasks—blending local support with GP expertise.
Telehealth GP appointments, on-site or from any location with internet access, will continue to be booked directly through the Glen Innes Health Hub.
This change is being made to ensure the long-term sustainability of GP access for Glen Innes. We remain deeply committed to supporting the Glen Innes community and ensuring that everyone can continue to receive high-quality primary care close to home.
Thank you for your understanding, and for your ongoing trust as we work together to keep healthcare strong and accessible in our region.
